FOLLOWING WAS OUR APACHE STUD AD FROM 2004...

Mountain State Apache is the kind of dog that we all want. He has it all – the best in looks, bloodlines, tree power, and brains.

Apache is a physical specimen. He is a sleek and shiny 48 lb. black brindle that is muscled up like a body builder. He has four world show championships and one state show championship.

Apache is a competition dog. Even though he has been campaigned very little, check out this record… I hunted Apache in 17 hunts. In 2 OMCBA hunts in Jamestown, he won both casts, placing 3 rd and 7 th . In World Tree Dog Association (WTDA), the quickest you can make Super Grand Squirrel Champion is 12 hunts. Apache made it in 15. He made Squirrel Champion in 5 hunts, including the world hunt and two state hunts (the best you can do is 4 first place wins). We got his 5 Squirrel Champion wins to make Grand in 6 hunts, including a state hunt and the world hunt. He got his 3 Grand Squirrel Champion wins to make Super Grand in 4 hunts (In the other hunt, he won his cast, but finished second to my dad’s dog, Holly!). He was Reserve World Champion at 17 months.

Apache is an incredible tree dog. When I say he is a stay-put tree dog, I mean it. He and I won 17 out of 20 casts, scoring 7600+ and 125-. This dog does not leave trees! When I say he is a slobber-mouth tree dog, I mean his face is covered with white foam on EVERY tree, whether it’s a bad track or a sight chase. He won the Ohio State Tree Championship with 125 barks at 9 months old on the first coon he ever saw. He trees about 100 barks a minute in the woods.

Apache is also a pleasure dog. He is very active, sweeping the woods out to about 400-500 yards. I find squirrels in about 95% of his trees. If another dog trees and Apache won’t honor the tree, it’s not looking good for the other dog!

Apache has outstanding bloodlines. Every drop of Apache’s blood is 100% from two of the three prepotent crosses that make up 100% of the blood in every dog we have. He is from World Squirrel Champion Franklin’s Thunder (Streak JR X Georgetta) and Multi-World Champion Mountain State Pepper. Pepper is from a full brother and sister cross of two dogs from Super Grand Squirrel Champion Duff’s Bob X Pine Knot Tiger Paws. This heavy Busher cross produced Multi-World Champion Bonnie Beti (Pepper’s mother), Grand Champion Nite Champion Marmon’s Dirty Harry (Pepper’s father), and Multi-World Champion Ohio Bobbie. Pepper has 4 NKC and WTDA World Champion titles including World Squirrel, Tree, and Show Champion, 6 NKC and WTDA State Champion titles, as well as 2001 WTDA Dog of the Year.

Apache is – in all respects – a stud dog. He is averaging an incredible 9.8 pups per litter. Best of all, he is reproducing himself. Even though there is only one litter that is close to being old enough to be finished, I have lots of references on his pups. There was one litter born in the summer of 2002 and two litters born in the summer of 2003 and another that fall. We don’t know of any that are not treeing – most are treeing very well. I had to pay a four-digit price for Geronimo at seven months old. I haven’t found another started pup that’s for sale.

Finally, Apache is young. He was three years old on May 17, 2004. So, proven crosses to Apache can be repeated for several years. It’s frustrating to make a great cross that you can’t repeat because the stud is too old.

Mountain State Apache

The great Mountain State Apache was born right here in our back yard.  His father is the great Franklin's Thunder and his mother is our own Mountain State Pepper.  On March 19, 2005, Apache was sold to James Menser, Mark Morrison, and Doc Mosely.  He is now owned solely by Mark Morrison of Brandon, MS.
