Squirrel Champion
Mountain State Holly
1997-2007

This page will now have to be a memorial to Mountain State Holly.  Holly passed away of pneumonia in the late winter of 2007.  Like many, many outstanding Original Mountain Curs, Holly was born in George Toot's kennel in Ohio, on October 2, 1997, from the famous cross of Toot's Dale and Toot's Candy.  She was owned by Allen Franklin, then Jay Overholt, who sold her to us in 2002.  Holly hunted her heart out for us from that time until her early passing.

She was a hard hunter, that got treed and stayed treed.  She kept her head up and almost never missed a squirrel that timbered.

Holly wasn't a world beater, but she was a very solid squirrel dog that was able to hold her own in competition.  I lost only two or three casts with Holly.  She was the high scoring dog in 5 different hunts including the 2003 Spring OMCBA Hunt in Jamestown.  As far as competition goes, that was her highest achievement.  It is a real shame that I didn't have her to competition hunt until she was 5 1/2 years old.  I really think I could have accomplished much more.

Holly produced several outstanding pups from Mountain State Geronimo, Mountain State Apache, Franklin's Thunder and Deadend Hawkeye.

Her blood will continue to show up in Mountain State dogs for years to come
