Mountain State Pepper was born in Kansas on New Year's Day, 1999.  She has made her home in West Virginia since she was 8 weeks old.  Pepper and Adam trained each other, as she learned how to tree squirrels and coons while Adam learned how to get the most from a hunting dog.  Pepper is an outstanding tree dog.  Walking to her in the woods, you would think she's a Treeing Walker.  That's how hard and loud she is.  She is extremely accurate as well.  Barry Brown, owner of the great Princess Di, hunted with Pepper extensively in her second squirrel season.  He said, "If she trees and you can't find her squirrel, it's probably your fault, not hers."

Pepper passed away on November 11, 2011, just a few weeks short of 13 years old.  She will be greatly missed and long remembered.

Pepper has an outstanding competition record.  She has six World Champion and Reserve World Champion titles and seven State Championships in three different events.  In 2001, she earned the title of World Tree Dog Association Dog of the Year.
