If you visit Mountain State Kennels, you won't find rows of kennels or dozens of dogs chained to boxes. We own FIVE adult dogs that are ALL well-bred, ALL hunted regularly, and ALL thoroughly performance tested. In spite of our size, we believe we have achieved a PROVEN breeding program that other small breeders can duplicate. It costs a few bucks and a lot of shoe leather, but it works!
When it comes to breeding dogs, we believe in two major
principles.
First, dogs with outstanding bloodlines are most likely to
produce outstanding offspring.
Second, only dogs from outstanding bloodlines that are
PROVEN to carry on the hunting traits of those bloodlines
should be allowed to reproduce.
We haven't tried to breed dozens of litters in order to find
the best bloodlines. We are not ashamed - in fact, we're
proud - of the fact that we have chosen three of the most
outstanding proven crosses in Original Mountain Cur
history on which to base our breeding program.
Our breeding program is based on three
Dominant Crosses:
Duff's Bob X Pine Knot Tiger Paws
Streak JR X Grove's Georgetta
Toot's Dale X Toot's Candy
To this point, many Mountain State dogs have been entirely from these three crosses. Mountain State Mohawk, Apache's Wind Sioux, Geronimo's Mountain State Sioux are outcrossed slightly to pick up some closely related bloodlines. If you'd like to know more about these crosses or how you can use the
