Mountain State Tonto

Here are a few pictures of Mountain State Tonto, the puppy Adam and I kept from the July, 2006, cross between Geronimo and Pepper.  Bill and Brent Lake of Hacker Valley, WV are now the proud owners of Mountain State Tonto!   Adam and I are so sure he's going to be a good one that we have reserved stud rights to him.

These are pictures of Tonto on a tree in the woods below our house.  I rubbed a dead squirrel around the trunk of this tree and on the ground under it.  Then, I stuck the squirrel in a hole about 6 feet up and went back to the house and turned Tonto loose.  With no encouragement, he didn't take very long to locate the squirrel and start treeing on it.  This is before he turned 4 months old.  Needless to say, we are very excited about Tonto!

Tonto treed his first wild squirrel by himself at 7 months of age.  Most impressive was his style... just like Apache and Geronimo, he put his feet on the tree and barked every breath.  At the left is Tonto, two days later on his second squirrel.  This time, we had a camera!
